Track the 2023 REALTOR® Legislative Priorities
June 30th at 3:23pm.
To keep the NSR advocacy team up to date regarding the progress of the legislation advocated for/against on the 2023 REALTOR® Day at Beacon Hill, NSR staff created a tracker which will monitor the status of each legislative priority. Click HERE to view the tracker. This list will be updated on a regular basis to ensure members have access to up-to-date information.
The simplified process for enacting new legislation is as follows:
- Legislators files the bill, and it gets referred to the relevant committee
- Hearing(s) are held
- Committee(s) reports favorably
- Bill must be read three times in the house and the senate prior to moving to the floor
- House and Senate vote in favor
- Enacted and laid before the Governor
- Governor signs the bill into law
As a reminder, Day on the Hill attendees advocated against transfer taxes and rent control and spoke to their legislators in support of:
- H.233-An Act improving housing opportunities
- H.265/S.166-An Act relative to realtor fair housing education
- H.2727/S.1787-An Act relative to first time homebuyer and rental savings accounts
- S.495-An Act relative to crumbling concrete foundations
- S.2242-An Act to establish standards for quarry licensing and the testing for pyrite minerals
In addition, NSR staff has compiled a list of every 2023 housing related bill sponsored by each of the elected officials representing NSR communities.
