Our Commitment

On October 30, 2020, the NSR Board of Directors adopted a recommendation from the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Task Force for the North Shore REALTORS® Commitment to Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI). This commitment formalizes the association’s ongoing efforts to be a leader on the North Shore who works toward making our communities a better place to live and our industry more equitable.

There is still much to do. Below are a collection of resources to implement self improvement, assist in supporting Fair Housing activities, and promoting DEI activities.

Fairhaven

A Fair Housing Simulation

Fairhaven is a powerful tool to increase your understanding of Fair Housing. The training tasks you with selling homes while being presented with realistic, everyday Fair Housing scenarios. Based on your choices, you will receive unique responses and feedback to apply to your day to day business. You will also have an opportunity to experience the point of view of a client and hear testimonials on how housing discrimination impacts real people’s lives.

Implicit Bias Tests

Project Implicit

The Implicit Association Test (IAT) measures attitudes and beliefs that people may be unwilling or unable to report. The IAT may show implicit attitudes that you are not conscious of.

If you would like to gauge how implicit bias affects your own outlook, Harvard’s Project Implicit is available with over a dozen tests that examine thoughts and feelings outside of conscious awareness and control.
