Salem Registry Urgent Announcement
December 14th at 5:02pm.
John O’Brien, Salem Register of Deeds, has released an urgent announcement concerning operations at the Salem Registry. If you have an upcoming closing please keep in mind the following information so that the transaction can be recorded on time.
Extremely Urgent Announcement
The Southern Essex District Registry of Deeds is experiencing a dramatic increase in the number of employees who are testing positive for COVID-19. Currently four of our coworkers are positive and at home in quarantine. We are doing everything we can to insure the health and safety of our employees while still recording documents.
The situation is continually changing, but we remain closed to the public, with only a limited number of staff on-site who are recording drop-offs, mail, UPS, and FedEx deliveries, with the majority of staff working remotely to process eRecordings. However, we are concerned that if the situation escalates and necessitates closing the registry completely, that we will be unable to record these drop-offs and deliveries.
The employees that are coming in have tested negative, but we still need your help. With the end of the calendar year quickly approaching, we understand the importance of going on record, and we strongly encourage you to sign up for eRecording. Please do not rely on the mail or other delivery services, as we may be unable to record these if employees are unable to enter the building. We also urge you to submit your documents ahead of time if you can, to mitigate any unforeseen issues.
