On Thursday, September 8th at 6:00 PM, the Salem City Council will meet to discuss the Salem Housing Roadmap: A Housing Plan for All and Affordable Accessory Dwelling Unit Report. The meeting will take place at the City Council Chambers located 93 Washington Street, 2nd floor and via remote participation.
At a previous Salem City Council meeting, Jenn Goldson, Planning Consultant with JM Goldson provided a high-level overview of the draft report. The Salem Housing Roadmap will be discussed in more detail at the September 8th meeting.
In addition, the Salem City Council will discuss ADU ordinance recommendations submitted by the Planning Board. Recommendations include removing the bedroom limitation, revising the owner occupancy requirement, and consider allowing new detached accessory dwelling units to be built.
Salem residents who have built an ADU or had considered building an ADU are strongly encouraged to attend. Updates will be posted on the NSR blog.
