NSR Supports Approving the CPA in Danvers
April 27th at 12:03pm.
The North Shore REALTORS® Government Affairs Committee voted to support approving the Community Preservation ACT (CPA). The Association respectfully asks our Danvers members to vote to approve the CPA at the Tuesday, May 2nd election.
The CPA is a state grant program that supports local open space, historic preservation, community housing, and recreation projects. For reference, NSR has tracked all CPA project funding since 2010 for the 13 NSR communities that have adopted the Community Preservation Act. For a complete list of project expenditures by community, please click HERE.
Based on current property values in Danvers, an approved CPA would generate a total of $1.144 million in CPA funds with $266,008 coming directly from the state at the cost of only $17.79 by the average single-family owner and $11.14 the average condo owner per quarter.
Residents will have the final say in approving all CPA spending.
The CPA grant funds could potentially go to funding the following projects:
- Develop Lebel’s Grove Passive Recreation Area
- Rehabilitate local parks, playgrounds, tennis courts, athletic fields & other recreational areas
- Restore the dozens of veteran’s graves that have fallen into disrepair and dishonor in the town‐owned cemeteries (such as on High St.) or the abandoned cemeteries the town maintains.
- Develop the Sandy Beach Recreation Area, including a splash park and kayak launch
- Ensure preservation of the following; 1681 Salem Village Parsonage site on Centre St, 1892 Peabody Institute Library, Rebecca Nurse Homestead, 1855 Town Hall, 1832 Putnamville School, Facade of the 1923 Holten‐Richmond Middle School, 1870 Civil War memorial and other veteran memorials, Salem Village Witch‐Hunt Victims Memorial on Hobart St., 1754 Jeremiah Page House, 1930 Tapley Memorial Hall and Glen Magna Mansion.
- Provide support for Veteran’s and Senior Housing
