MA House FY2023 Local Project Expenditures
May 3rd at 2:13pm.
The Massachusetts House of Representatives has submitted the final House FY 2023 Budget to the Senate House Ways and Means Committee. The House Budget includes amendments for direct aid to local projects. Typically, the amendments for a community are filed by the State Representative serving their district. Please see the list of projects funded by direct local aid in each NSR Community by clicking HERE. In terms of housing related projects, in the House FY 2023 Budget, Haverhill would receive $50,000 in funding for an ADU incentive program.
Please see the final steps in the annual budget process:
Step 1: Final House Budget is submitted to Senate Ways and Means Committee.
Step 2: The Senate Committee on Ways and Means examines both the Governor's proposal and the House proposal and releases its own recommendations for the annual budget for deliberation by the Senate.
Step 3: The Senate debates and considers amendments for the budget.
Step 4: The Senate then approves a final, amended version of the bill which is then sent to a Conference Committee for review.
Step 5: The House and Senate appoint three members each to a "Conference Committee" to reconcile the differences between the House and Senate proposals.
Step 6: The Governor has 10 days to review the budget and take action to either approve or veto the budget. The Governor may approve or veto the entire budget, veto or reduce specific line items, veto outside sections or submit changes as an amendment to the budget for further consideration by the Legislature.
Updates on final local aid project expenditures in the FY 2023 budget will be posted on the NSR blog.
