Wenham Master Plan Update

After receiving community input about what the ideal future for Wenham would look like, the Wenham Master Plan Advisory Committee working with the firm JM Goldson is in now in the process of formulating the visions and goals for the next ten years.
Working with the firm JM Goldson, the Wenham Master Plan Advisory committee published a draft of the Master Plan Goals Statements. The purpose of the draft is to elicit feedback from Wenham residents, which will shape the final draft.
The draft includes the overall community vision statement for Wenham in ten years, the core themes, and the goals for the town by 2034. Please see the five core themes of Wenham’s vision statement below:
- Core Theme One: Fiscally balanced economic growth
- Core Theme Two: Peerless municipal infrastructure and services
- Core Theme Three: Wenham for all ages
- Core Theme Four: Sustainably protecting Wenham’s resources
- Core Theme Five: Honoring Wenham’s story
Goals listed under the core themes include:
- Advance economic development sites to be market-ready for development
- Promote a vibrant, walkable town center and train station area by incorporating sustainable mixed-use development
- Achieve community-wide-net-zero carbon emissions by 2040
- Facilitate the development of diverse affordable housing opportunities
- Subsidized Housing Inventory (SHI) over 10%
- Increase protections for open space
- Promote opportunities for adaptive reuse in-line with the historic character of the town
