Salem Holds Remote Public Hearing

Yesterday, a joint meeting of the Salem City Council and Planning Board was held remotely to receive public comment on both the Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Ordinance and the Inclusionary Zoning Ordinance. The public was able to participate by a call in number, from Zoom teleconference, or by watching live on Salem Access Television. This is the first public hearing to be held in this manner.
The meeting centered on the ADU Ordinance. A presentation of informational material and what changes the ADU ordinance proposed was made by Tom Daniel and Amanda Chiancola of the Salem Planning Department.
During the public hearing NSAR delivered a letter of support for the ADU ordinance presented by 2020 NSAR President Cynthia Nina-Soto.
Public comment on the Inclusionary Zoning Ordinance did not begin due to time constraints. The public hearing will be continued in two weeks to give an opportunity for more public comment.
