Gloucester Short-Term Rental Proposal Withdrawn
April 13th at 4:30pm.
After public discussion, the Gloucester City Council voted to withdraw the proposal which would have implemented restrictions on short-term rentals. The City Council cited the need for Gloucester-specific data on short-term rentals, including the potential economic impacts of the proposed changes.
Initially, the City Council voted 7-2 to send the proposal back to the Ordinance and Administration Subcommittee for additional study. However, Councilor Gross requested the proposal be withdrawn without prejudice after expressing concern that there was not enough time to get a study funded before the next Ordinances and Administration subcommittee meeting. The council voted 9-0 to withdraw the order.
Updates related to short-term rentals in Gloucester will be posted on the NSR blog.
