Varian Medical Systems has until September 23rd to submit an updated report to The Massachusetts Department of Energy (MassDEP) on the results of new contamination testing at the contaminated 150 Sohier Road site. Despite the cleanup project beginning in 2000, as recently as May 2020, groundwater near the Beverly site has shown elevated levels of toxic chemicals.
Varian announced that it will hold public meetings in October and January to discuss the results of the contamination testing and has created a website to provide Beverly residents with updates about the ongoing cleanup efforts at the contaminated site. Access the website by clicking HERE.
Varian Medical System is required to recommend a new cleanup plan to the MassDEP by December 7, 2022. Updates, including future public meetings, will be posted on the NSR blog.
