Swampscott Approves ADU Ordinance

On day two of Swampscott’s 2023 Town Meeting, residents voted to approve a proposed Accessory Dwelling Unit ordinance which would allow attached and detached ADUs to be built by right (without needing a special permit). The associated Article 17 needed a simple majority vote. Over 80% of the Swampscott Town Meeting Representatives voted in favor of the ADU ordinance.
The NSR Government Affairs Committee voted to support the Marblehead ADU ordinance and actively advocated for this measure. Please see the related articles section below for more information.
