The Peabody City Council voted to send a letter to the state voicing opposition to the new multifamily zoning requirements for MBTA communities (Section 3A of M.G.L. ch. 40A). In an 8-2 vote, the council tasked the city clerk with writing a letter outlining the councilor’s concerns about the zoning requirements.
Prior to this meeting, the Industrial and Community Development committee voted 3-2 to send a letter notifying the state that Peabody does not intend to comply with the multifamily zoning requirements for MBTA communities. The full council struck down this motion with an 8-2 vote.
The letter will therefore not explicitly outline a refusal to comply with the multifamily zoning requirements.
