Merrimac has been awarded $250,000 in state assistance from the Brownfield Redevelopment Fund to help recover the contaminated site located at 2 Littles Court, off Route 110. The funds will be used to test the remaining foundation and soil for contamination and remove the foundation and all contaminated soil.
Merrimac was one of thirteen Massachusetts communities to share in the $2.6 million in Brownfield Redevelopment awards. Over the last 20 years, the Brownfield Redevelopment Fund has invested tens of millions of dollars to ensure blighted and abandoned sites in Massachusetts can be safely redeveloped for residential and commercial use.
