At Town Meeting, Ipswich residents voted to maintain the Stretch Code but not adopt the Specialized Stretch Code.
Ipswich adopted the Stretch Code in 2018. A majority of Massachusetts municipalities utilize the Stretch Code. The Specialized code is a newer "net zero" version. In the North Shore region, Salem and Swampscott have adopted the Specialized Stretch code but it doesn’t go into effect until July 1.
