
Gloucester Announces 2023 CPA Projects

The Gloucester Community Preservation Committee announced 14 funding recommendations totaling $1,040,000 for 2023. Please see a list of project expenditures below:
Historic Preservation
- $30,000 for the Cemeteries Advisory Committee’s to preserve gravestones at Bay View Cemetery
- $50,000 for new windows, doors, and a new bulkhead in Charles Jones Hall
- $50,000 for a design project for two buildings at the historic Manship Artists Residence and Studios in Lanesville
- $100,000 for waterfront resiliency improvements at Maritime Gloucester property at 23 Harbor Loop
- $100,000 for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning at Gloucester Lyceum and Sawyer Free Library’s historic Saunder’s house
- $50,000 to preserve the schooner Adventure’s rudder
Affordable Housing
- $200,000 for Action Inc.’s tenant-based rental/mortgage assistance program
- $100,000 for Harborlight Community Partners Inc.’s 20-unit affordable senior housing project at 252-256 Main St
- $99,000 to replace roofs at Gloucester Housing Authority’s Willowood Gardens
Open Space and Recreation
- $50,000 for Gloucester High Baseball Booster’s renovation of Nate Ross Baseball Field
- $50,000 to the State Park Advisory Committee for is Lucy Davis Pathway and Fort area renovation project
- $50,000 for the rehabilitation of the Stage Fort Park playground by the Gloucester Rotary Club
- $50,000 for Young Legends Street Hockey Inc’s. Conversion of former basketball courts into a street hockey rink
In total, the Community Preservation Committee received 22 applications requesting $2.5 million in CPA funds. Updates will be posted to the NSR blog.
