The Essex Affordable Housing Trust is holding a meeting on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, to discuss the following:
Possible development and support of an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) bylaw
Possible development of a Housing Production Plan
Potential future Special Legislation for local property tax breaks for property owners who operate and maintain properties that qualify as affordable housing in perpetuity, and which are therefore on the Town’s Subsidized Housing Inventory
Continued conversation about a possible affordable housing project using Town-owned property
Preference on criteria for affordable housing projects (55+, veterans, seniors, etc.)
Essex has been working with the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission (MAPC) to develop an ADU bylaw and is in the process of updating the town’s zoning bylaws. Updates will be posted on the NSR blog.
