The acceptance of the Community Preservation Act (CPA) is on the ballot for the May 2, 2023, Danvers town election. If approved, Danvers residents would have a 1% surcharge on their property taxes. Tax revenue collected from this surcharge would fund affordable housing, historic preservation, open space, and recreation projects. State grants would match 40% of funds raised from CPA.
Based on last year’s property values, a 1% surcharge in FY 2022 would have generated $841,852 in local CPA funds for Danvers, plus an additional $331,437 in state funds, for a total of $1.173 million. The tax would have cost the average taxpayer in Danvers approximately $68 annually.
Residents may begin in-person early voting on April 22 at the Danvers Town Hall Toomey Room from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM. Polls will be open from 7:00 AM-8:00 PM with all precincts voting at Danvers High School.
