Community Orders Relative to COVID-19
April 13th at 10:51pm.
Several orders have been issued by our local North Shore communities relative to COVID-19. Two particular orders have been seen across the region that mandate the wearing of protective masks and limit landlord/owner access to rental units.
Governor Baker advised individuals to wear protective masks to minimize the spread of coronavirus by those who currently aren’t exhibiting symptoms. Several of our local communities have taken it a step further and issued orders mandating the use of protective masks including Danvers, Essex, Beverly, Ipswich, Marblehead, Middleton, Hamilton, Haverhill, Salem, Lynn, Swampscott, Peabody, Nahant, Rockport, Gloucester, Saugus, and Wenham.
The access to rental units has been restricted by several communities for the purpose of general inspections, displaying units to potential future tenants, and other non-critical activities. Access is restricted to tenant requested repairs, repairs required by law, and response to a life-threatening emergency. Communities that have adopted this order include Danvers, Beverly, Peabody, Lynn, Salem, and Gloucester.
A few municipalities have taken other steps. Danvers, within their order restricting access to rental units, has also ordered that no residential or commercial open houses be held and Lynn has immplemented a curfew from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM.
