Working with the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission, the Beverly Planning Department is holding a public informational meeting on ADUs on Tuesday May 2nd at 7:00 PM. The meeting will be held at the Beverly City Hall and streamed live on BevCam on YouTube.
A formal ordinance has not been submitted, as the Planning Department is still in the process of gathering feedback and sharing information with residents. Beverly’s current ordinance only allows ADUs for certain family members.
Beverly held its first meeting on March 24th and provided attendees with a survey related to potential changes to the ADU ordinance. Of those surveyed, 91% said they would “Likely Support” attached ADUs and 67% said they would “Likely Support” detached ADUs, with aging in place being the top housing related concern cited at 39%. The complete survey results can be reviewed by clicking HERE and the recording can be viewed HERE.
