4.24.09 Statewide Sales Tax on Real Estate Commissions Proposed

The state House of Representatives is scheduled to begin debate next week on the budget. Of the 1,000 plus amendments that have been filed, one amendment in particular- entitled amendment #28- has been filed by Rep. Peter Kocot (D) Northampton. Amendment 28 would expand the state’s sales tax on goods to include services. This would appear to include real estate services, legal services, health care services, accounting services etc.

NSAR Volunteers off to a Great Year! New Business Plan Video launched Members of the 2009 Board of Directors and appointed Committee chairs participated in NSAR Leadership Workshop. The annual event allows leadership to review and discuss the association’s business plan for member services and programs and their committee role in achieving the year’s goals. This year’s program included video presentation of NSAR’s business plan hosted by 2009 President David Kres, and included appearances by 2008 President Marilyn Jarvis, President-Elect Bert Beaulieu, and the “Kres Family Kats”.
